PRIDE IS GOOD
In March 1969, PLAYBOY published a reader’s Letter to the Editor that detailed the dangers of conversion therapy—a discredited practice that aims to change someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity. The headline: “Gay is Good,” a reference to the 1960s rallying cry for LGBTQ equality.
Advocating for sexual freedom has always been in Playboy's DNA. Fifty years later, our work is not done. Conversion therapy remains legal in more than 30 states.
OUR CALL TO EARS
In order to raise awareness and to support The Trevor Project and its 50 Bills 50 States initiative, we commissioned seven queer artists to reimagine the iconic Bunny ears for an exclusive collection. These curated pieces represent Playboy’s “call to ears”—a physical manifestation of our commitment to Pride and our ongoing support of the LGBTQ community. To inspire the artists’ designs, we asked each the same question:
“What Does Pride Mean to You?”

JOIN THE FIGHT WITH THESE ALLIES
Celebrate free expression. Stand with the queer community. Together with our allies in the LGBTQ community (photographed by Ryan Pfluger, below), we invite you to wear your pride and support the fight to end conversion therapy across the United States.
We asked six people affected by conversion therapy to tell us their stories and help us become better allies. Photographed by Ryan Pfluger, the subjects are featured in an eight-page dedication called "Faces of Resilience" in the Summer 2019 issue of PLAYBOY, on newsstands June 11.
MEET THE FACES OF RESILIENCE
A LOOK BACK AT PLAYBOY’S LGBTQ ADVOCACY
Playboy has been an advocate of the LGBTQ community since the magazine's inception in 1953. Our core mission is to support the idea that everyone, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, race or religion, should be allowed to pursue pleasure, free from judgment and restriction. Here are eight notable moments from our past that demonstrate our support through the decades.
